About
How do you envision your time at Artport? Are there any specific projects you are interested in working on? How will the program assist you professionally? (up to 3000 characters).
During my MFA at CalArts I had my own studio for the first time, I found it very beneficial to have all of my cohort surrounds me, in a way that allows having a community and a private space. We use to have many studio visits with each other, some unofficial for me it was beneficial at least as much as having a studio visits with my professors. The community and closeness created by working side to side with my cohort was very substantial and have changed my work as an artist. I would love to have this experience again in a new turf with different people in a new environment, I'm curious to see what can come out of this. This setting also helped us teach each other and develop skills like submitting to different things, improving technical skills like Photoshop, Premiere and so on.
Studio as a creative space allows me to have a place that is dedicated only to my art, the creative environment inspires me to work more, consulting other people, hearing their opinions and seeing what they're working on. Having a studio would be an opportunity to develop my practice. The space will allow me to experience with new materials and on a new scale.
Since I have lived in LA for the last two and a half years, I have fewer connections in Israel and I am less connected to the Israeli art scene. It would be helpful to reconnect with artists and curators who are part the art scene in Israel. With covid-19 showing up in our lives, the ways to make connections have been significantly cut off, it's even more substantial for emerging artist. The only way to show your work in progress is through social media and this is immensely different. having a studio would allow me to share work in progress, which unfortunately I haven't been able to do in a while and it's always a great help and very different than showing a cohesive (finished) work.
I would like to work on a significant and extensive project food dialogues. It will include writing a script of a dialogue between food and different women, between the body and mind. The project will incorporate different mediums like performance, sculptures and video.
It will have a stage build from different things like leftovers, food Ingredients, diaries, scales and so on. The project will have at least four performers that will talk to each other and to themselves. Food dialogues will investigate different aspects of criticism and body issues, I will also inquire about the relationship between one to her body in the context of food.
